Our Story
Here’s a video that celebrated some of the highlights of over 25 years of ministry at Grace Outreach Center:
The church was started by Senior/Founding Pastor Gerald Brooks and his wife, Geni. Grace Outreach first met as a Bible study in a home in Garland, Texas in November of 1982. It quickly grew and relocated to a day care center on Plano Parkway in west Plano. Soon afterward, the church moved to the first phase of the Parkhill Plaza Office Park at the northwest corner of Parker and Custer Roads. As church membership increased, the church occupied three different buildings in that complex. The last one was purchased in 1990 and sold in 1995 as the church prepared to move to its current facility.
Grace Outreach moved into its current location at parker and Preston Roads in June 1996. Situated on approximately nine acres, the new facility can accommodate approximately 1,500 people in the sanctuary. At the time of the move, the church had approximately 1,300 members. Since then the church has expanded to allow for more classrooms and the addition of a multipurpose gymnasium size facility.
During the past four years, the church has:
- Grown to more than 4,500 in weekend service attendance
- Seen the Saturday evening service become the second largest weekly service
- Added balcony to provide additional seating
- Added a Saturday and Sunday Spanish language services
- Added and expanded LIFE Groups (small groups) to include teaching and ministry to virtually all age groups
Development of 3.3 acres on the southwest corner of Parker and Preston Roads was completed in March 2001. This enabled the church to add additional parking as well as a facility that accommodates more classrooms, church offices, and a 250 seat chapel. In October of 2003, the church purchased 19.6 acres at Preston and Spring Creek for future expansion.
Reflecting on our past and present brings us to one simple conclusion - our future will only be more exciting. The heartbeat of Grace is to share the love of Jesus Christ with boys and girls, teenagers, and adults in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and beyond.
